FED: Major Aust tragedy on university degrees - Beazley

KIM BEAZLEY says it's a tragedy students are paying more than 200 thousand dollars
for a full-fee degree at some Australian universities.

The latest edition of the Good Universities Guide shows full-fee degrees in medicine
.. medicine/law .. and medicine/arts cost up to 237 thousand dollars at the University
of NSW.

The average new mortgage in Australia is 222 thousand dollars.

Mr BEAZLEY has vowed to scrap full fee degrees .. despite the 90 million dollars a
year it would cost.
