Qld: Beattie may have known of vote scam, inquiry told

BRISBANE, Jan 11 AAP - Queensland Premier Peter Beattie may have known about illegal
branch-stacking in 1986 but wasn't told by the mastermind of the scam, an inquiry was
told today.

Former Goss Government adviser David Barbagallo told Queensland's Shepherdson Inquiry
into ALP electoral rorts today that he didn't tell Mr Beattie about his activities in
South Brisbane.

Mr Beattie - who was state secretary at the time - has previously insisted he had no
knowledge of electoral rorts.
