Red light // Singer shines with Music of Baroque

White shoulders and blazing red hair marked the rather auspiciousdebut of singer Amy Cochrane.

With Music of the Baroque since 1993, Cochrane remembers herfirst night quite vividly, a choral part in the "Paukenmesse" ofHaydn.

"We were told to wear a black gown," Cochrane said. "So I gotout my best black diva gown, which has no shoulders, a straight dresswith a little rhinestone at the throat. It turns out I was the onlyone there with bare white shoulders, and I have this really red hair.They'll never forget me, I guess."Music became a way of life for Cochrane at an early age.
